Questions About the Plan

Is this project already approved?

We are in the initial stages of planning and have submitted the project to the city for review. There will be opportunities for input.

How many apartments are proposed?

The project proposes 110 apartments, with a mix of studios, one and two bedroom units. Resident and guest parking is also planned as part of the project.

Will the apartments be for rent?

Yes. The project proposes to provide much needed housing in Brea that will attract a diverse group of residents. Renting is a more preferred and practical option for many people looking for housing.

What about traffic?

A key feature of the project will close off access to the adjacent Mercury property, assuring no Brea Plaza traffic goes through the neighborhood thereby keeping traffic off Greenbriar and Redbay. It is anticipated that a majority of the traffic will use Imperial Hwy. Traffic studies are underway and as data becomes available it will be shared.

What are the benefits of the proposed project?

By having a mixed-use project, it will create a place where you can live, shop, seek entertainment – and never get in a car. Additionally, this creates a dynamic relationship between the retail, dining, and proposed residential, with the residents providing needed support for the retail businesses.

Brea Olinda Unified School District is experiencing declining enrollment and this project will add much needed students and funding to a declining school population.

Other benefits include temporary and permanent jobs, much needed housing, increased property tax revenue, and affordable housing.

Will any of the proposed units be affordable?

Yes, an allocated number of units will be available as affordable units.

How do you avoid residents parking at Brea Plaza?

A parking management plan is part of the proposed project. The property owned by one entity, ensuring parking will be properly managed, and the existing businesses will not be impacted.

Will there be EV Charging Stations for residents?

Yes, the project will include EV Charging stations as required.
